We get asked quite frequently where Maukilo comes from and how we got started so here goes . . .

What does Maukilo mean? Is it Hawaiian?
Maukilo Toys was named  after cat named Maui, whos favourite collar is pink with white Hibiscus flowers. That's as Hawaiian as it gets.

How did we get started?
In 2000, one of my best friends from Germany called me worried that her son's favorite stuffed animal is barely hanging on by a thread and there was no replacement to be found anywhere. It was a little stuffed animal by Sigikid, and while I researched for European toys online I discovered that there were virtually non available online in the U.S. I always loved bright colors, textures and quality craftsmanship (what can I say, I am a typical German girl) - Maukilo European Toys was born. A few weeks later we had a website, product in the closet, and a toll-free number.

What started in a small apartment in CA has moved in 2007 to a large warehouse in upstate NY with several thousand childrens products in stock, ready to be shipped to our valued customers.
